Matching your car’s color after a collision

When you need body work done it’s normally due to an accident.  Color matching can end up being an issue, and after an accident you don’t want or need another issue.  We find that many time we bring our red car to a body shop after an accident and what happens?  We get the car back with 2 different shades of Red!  Now that’s a problem in our eyes.
ICC Collison Centers knows paint preparation is a critical step in the refinishing process of every vehicle. Color matching can be one of the most challenging parts of that process.  That is why we have only the best technicians and paint specialist.  We carefully prepare all panels for paint.  They are primed and sealed to assure a good adhesion when the top & clear coats of paint are applied.
The paint of today really doesn’t fade much.  The clear-coat covered with air born contaminates causing the finish to look faded and dull.
Each manufacturer has its own color pallet. Each has their own color code there are variants, meaning there is shading differences from batch to batch between paint suppliers and this is still considered to be the same color.
Determining which variant is on a vehicle is done by rubbing with an abrasive paste and then polished to remove the air-born contaminants.  It is then scanned with a color matching camera that helps narrow down the color variant.
Once the variant is found a text mix is done and confirmed if it is a match or not.  Once the match is confirmed and the panel(s) are painted the real magic begins.  This magic is called blending and even the slightest things can have an effect on color matching humidity, temperature etc.  Most of which are out of the painters control.  The final stage means the color will be gradually “blended” into the surrounding panels.  When finished the human eye is not able to see any different from the surrounding finish.

What is the Difference Between a bumper to bumper and power train warranty?

If you’re looking to purchase a car, you’ll find that many certified pre owned or new cars offer 2 major types of warranties: a powertrain warranty as well as a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Obviously, there are several other warranties, for instance a corrosion warranty; however these would be the 2 most significant simply because they cover by far the most components inside your car. What exactly makes bumper-to-bumper warranties and powertrain warranties so different? Below you will find almost everything you’ll want to know.

What’s Covered With a Powertrain Warranty?

This is a warranty on components of the car’s propulsion system, like the engine, transmission and other associated pieces including the differential. Powertrain warranties also often cover almost anything involved in bringing energy or power for the wheels.

It’s important to note that not everything in this new car is covered simply with a powertrain warranty. Some parts are thought to be “wear items,” meaning they are designed to wear down; therefore any type of warranty simply will not purchase their substitution. These include the clutch & the battery as well as certain drive belts & fluids.

What exactly is covered under a Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty?

A bumper-to-bumper warranty, aka comprehensive warranty, covers all things starting with the front bumper and ending with the back bumper, this excludes the bumpers themselves of course, that are considered body panels and are not covered. Extra coverage beyond the powertrain warranty includes items including the car’s electronics, its music system, its AC system, certain suspension pieces & more. Since bumper-to-bumper warranties cover far more than powertrain warranties, they often times do not last as long.

But try not to think any warranty covers everything simply because it advertises on its own as “bumper to bumper.” Many wear parts are excluded from the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

What is the Difference Really?

Essentially, a powertrain warranty was created to cover only the car’s powertrain, which is a car’s biggest & most expensive component. Meanwhile, the bumper-to-bumper warranty covers almost every thing such as the powertrain, the suspension, the electronics, & more. As a result, a bumper-to-bumper warranty is exactly what you’ll want more than anything, in the event your bumper-to-bumper warranty expires or your used car program only offers powertrain protection, you can be confident understanding the majority of your car’s costly systems will be covered by the powertrain warranty.

In the event that you have a traffic collision, regardless of which type of warranty you purchased, make sure to take your vehicle to a reputable body shop or collision center such as ICC Collision Centers

Fuel Saving Tips

Are not likely to drop in the next year, but even worse, their sudden spikes mean your gas tank can quickly drain your wallet.  The good news is that you can take several steps yourself to actually make your car more efficient.

The more weight in your car, the more fuel it will burn.  So try not to carry heavy items in your vehicle while driving.  Lighten the load by taking anything and everything you don’t need out of your car.

Take it a tad bit slower on the highway and you will actually save on fuel as well as become less likely a victim of getting pulled over for speeding.

When driving at slower speeds, you should roll down the windows instead of using the AC.  This way you can cool yourself with the breeze of fresh air from outside to save energy.

When it’s time again to change your tires, try the fuel-efficient models.  These tend to use less energy while driving.

Rolling resistance is added when your tires are under inflated, and will burn more fuel.  Check your tire pressure often.

A clogged air filter restricts the air flowing into your engine, which will hinder the performance.  Replace your air filter and add up to ten percent more fuel efficiency while driving.

Redlining your RPMS burns a ton of fuel.  However, accelerating slowly will also decrease your fuel economy.  Cars perform less efficient in lower gears, so you want to accelerate at a pace that allows you to upshift at a more efficient rate.

Not only will a tune-up keep your car running in tip-top shape, it can also increase the efficiency of fuel in your car between 4 and 40 percent.

Try to plan the day out by hitting all the stops in one single car ride.  You can reduce the time & distance you spend on the road everyday by simply strategically planning your chores in a more efficient manner.

It actually takes more fuel to get a car moving than to keep it moving.  So whatever the pace, just keep it steady.

ICC Collision Centers hopes that we have given you enough information to at least reduce the fuel efficiency in your car a little bit.  Remember, a penny saved, is a penny earned.

How will a collision affect my insurance policy premiums?

The fear that auto insurance rates will automatically increase is the main reason why most drivers are hesitant to file an auto claim after a minor accident.

In reality, this is not always what happens. Your car insurance company determines if car insurance rates will go up as well as by how much.  This all depends on the circumstances of the particular accident, as well as whether accident forgiveness is on your policy.  Nobody really can tell exactly how an accident will affect their auto policy rates, the information below may allow you to get a bit of insight and predict the outcome.

Rates Based on Collision Specifics:

When determining how a collision can and will affect your auto policy rates, these are just a few of the factors they are likely to consider:

  • The severity of the incident. Damage from a car accident can range from a simple scratch or dent in paint to the car being totaled.
  • Larger quantities of destruction are likely to lead to a greater rate hike, or surcharge, because the insurance company must come up with a larger payout.
  • The at-fault driver. In many cases, your car insurance rates will go up if the accident is your fault, but remain the same as long as you can prove that the accident was the other driver’s fault.

On the other hand, certain exceptions apply, including but not limited to the following:

  • Quite a few companies will yet still raise your premium BC you are statistically more likely to get into yet another automobile accident, showing more risk for your company.
  • If you live in a no-fault state, both parties insurance agencies are required to pay for some of the costs, and your premiums will probably go up regardless of who caused the auto collision.
  • Your worthiness to the company. Safe motorists are less costly for auto insurance companies to cover.
  • If you have a long reputation of safe driving and you’ve been using the company for any long period of time, you are less likely to see dramatic spikes in your monthly fee than someone who has a very poor record of driving with many accidents..

Some businesses also provide accident forgiveness for safe drivers with a clean history. This simply means that your first accident won’t result in rate increases.

Accident Forgiveness

Many companies provide accident forgiveness to customers with great driving records.  A car accident forgiveness program usually allows great drivers to experience 1 collision without suffering the consequences of an increased premium after the claim, despite fault.  Check with your vehicle insurance carrier to see if they offer this type of program.
The Importance of Filing a Claim
Should you get into an accident, your vehicle is stolen, or another incident happens, don’t automatically steer clear of filing a claim BC you think your car insurance rates will go up.
An increase in your vehicle insurance rates are not necessarily permanent. Some companies raise your rate for the time being, but allow it to drop every year that you do not get yourself into another collision. Within a few years, your insurance costs can go back to their pre-accident rates.
Consider your company’s policies as well as the accident details to decide whether you wish to file a claim. Keep in mind that filing a claim allows you to:
• Tell your side of the collision story.
• Have your insurance company check out the accident.
• Use your coverage to pay for either your car or the other end of the accident’s party’s injuries or damages.

Regardless of you rates, getting into a collision is very serious, especially if your vehicle has been damaged and has become a hazard to drive.  In this case, you will need to call a reputable collision center such as ICC Collision.  We have trained and certified technicians to assist you with the insurance process as well as the process of getting your vehicle fixed.

The True Story of St. Valentine

“The story of Valentine’s Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian Martyr.   The emperor was Claudius II.   The Christian was Valentinus.

Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship twelve gods, and had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians.   But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ; not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.   He was arrested and imprisoned.

During the last weeks of Valentinus’s life a remarkable thing happened.   Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might be brought to Valentinus for lessons.   She had been blind since birth.   Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind.   Valentinus read stories of Rome’s history to her.   He described the world of nature to her.   He taught her arithmetic and told her about God.  She saw the world through his eyes, trusted his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength.

“Valentinus, does God really hear our prayers?” Julia asked one day.

“Yes, my child, He hears each one.”

“Do you know what I pray for every morning and every night?  I pray that I might see.   I want so much to see everything you’ve told me about!”

“God does what is best for us if we will only believe in Him,” Valentinus said.

“Oh, Valentinus, I do believe! I do!”  She knelt and grasped his hand.

They sat quietly together, each praying.   Suddenly there was a brilliant light in the prison cell.   Radiant, Julia screamed, “Valentinus, I can see!  I can see!”

“Praise be to God!”  Valentinus exclaimed, and he knelt in prayer.

On the eve of his death Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia, urging her to stay close to God.   He signed it, “From your Valentine.”  His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory.   He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome.   It is said that Julia planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave.   Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship.   On each February 14, Saint Valentine’s Day, messages of affection, love, and devotion are exchanged around the world.”

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, ICC Collision Wishes you and your loved ones a day to remember! Enjoy!
