Before the Auto Accident

If you have ever had an accident you know how hard it is to think.  First you make sure you and your passengers (if any) are okay.  Then you check to see if the other driver is okay.  Sometimes there is traffic buzzing around you and this adds to the confusion. Emotions are running high and it is just hard to gather your thoughts.  At this moment you don’t need to add to your stress by trying to figure out who to call to tow your vehicle or where to have it towed to!  Just like we have our insurance and registration in our vehicles we should always carry information about our body shop.  ICC Collision has several locations to serve you so we are always close by.  With our number in your vehicle you only have to call one number for towing and our guys bring your vehicle right to us!
During the holidays we are in our vehicles a lot more.  With more traffic it means more chances of an accident.
Before you hit the road make sure you vehicle is ready for the trip.  General maintenance on your vehicle will keep you on top of how it’s running.  It’s always a good idea to have your car looked over by your mechanic prior to a long road trip.
Check your tires.  If you are due to get a set its best to do it prior to the big trip.  The most common break downs are flat tires.  Be prepared.  Have a spare and the proper equipment. If you do not know how to change a tire (and are physically able to change a tire) you should learn.
Check your windshield wipers and fluid.  You never know what will get thrown up on the windshield while driving down the highway.  Having good wipers and plenty of fluid can be a lifesaver if your visibility is reduced.
Before you go on a trip make sure you have your insurance information, registration and ICC Collision Centers phone number 855-348-1309!  We will tow your vehicle and help you work with the insurance company.  From start to finish, ICC COLLISION CENTERS has you covered!

Fun, Historical Car Facts

Men have been in love with cars since their invention. Love stories have included some of the most amazing cars a person can imagine.  Our cars are part of us and can reflect who we are, or at least who we think we are.   ICC Collision Centers knows the love of cars.  We have the passion for that beautiful ride as well.  Here are some interesting car facts showing how cars have impacted our lives for many years.
*Adolf Hitler asked Ferdinand Porsche to make a Volkswagen, which literally means ‘People’s Car’ in German.  This car went on to be the Volkswagen Beetle.  It has been said that this drawing is actually Hitler’s own sketch of what he wanted the car to look like.

** The most expensive car ever sold at public auction was a 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R Formula 1 race car.  This beauty sold for a staggering $30 million at Bonhams in July 2013.  The record had been held by the 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa Prototype which sold for $16.4 million.
*** When Henry Ford was a young man he use to repair watches for his family and friends using tools he had made himself.  He used a corset stay as tweezers and a filed shingle nail as a screwdriver.
****In 1961 55% of the cars in the world, yes the WORLD, were Model T Fords!  This is still an unbroken record 99 years later!
***** The British luxury car marque Aston Martin’s name came from one of its founders Lionel Martin who use to race at Aston Hills near Aston Clinton.
****** Volkswagen names many of its cars after wind.  Example- Golf –Gulf Stream, Polo – Polar winds, Jetta – Jet Stream and Passat- A German word for trade wind.
******* Jamaican reggae singer Bob Marley owned a BMW, not for prestige but because of the initials for Bob Marley & the Wailers. J

I wrecked my car, now what?

No one ever plans on having an accident, but every day thousands of car accidents happen.  The most important thing is no one is injured, but what about your vehicle?  What is the next step to getting your vehicle back on the road?  ICC Collision Center will guide you, step by step, through the repair process.
The first step in the repair process is the estimate.  In this process the vehicle is inspected and relevant data is entered into the estimate computer system.  All of this data is compiled that will determine the cost of repairs.  There are times when there is hidden damage that can’t be seen until the vehicle is disassembled.
Second step is where the insurance company reviews the estimate.  There could be some negotiations on the price and procedures required to complete the repairs.  The insurance company will determine if the vehicle is even repairable.  Once this is completed the actual repair process can begin.
Step three is where disassembly happens and this is where hidden damage is found.  If additional damage is found there will need to be an insurance re-inspection and ordering additional parts.
Step four, parts are ordered and availability is checked.  If a part needs to be specially ordered the order will be places as soon as possible.  The repair process cannot begin until all structural parts are received.
Step five– In the structure repair area, the unitized body is returned back to the factory specification.  ICC Collision center uses a sophisticated measuring system in all phases in this area.  A computer based measurement system is used to analyze the frame, this assures an accurate repair.
Step 6– All exterior panels and all metal finishing is performed.  This is where your vehicle begins to come back to life and from here your vehicle will go to the paint prep department.
Step 7 is paint preparation.  This is a critical step in the refinishing process.  All panels are prepared for paint, primed and sealed to assure good adhesion when the final top color and clear coats are applied.-
Step 8 Final moldings and detail pieces are put back on your vehicle.  All systems are checked during this process.  Your vehicle is almost complete and ready for delivery!
Step nine– During the repair process your vehicle gets dusty.  It will be cleaned, road tested to ensure that everything is working properly.  Then a final inspection will ensure your vehicle is restored to its pre-accident condition.
Step 10– Delivery!  This is where you are reunited with your vehicle, the bill is explained and the final paperwork is completed.  You drive away in your vehicle that is now restored to its pre-accident condition!
ICC Collision Center knows having an accident can be very traumatic!  With experience and knowledge of auto body repairs we get you back on the road as quickly as possible.
